In the United States, about 10% of the population has asthma. The prevalence of asthma is increasing at a rate of 1-1/2% per year. Asthma is chronic disease, usually requiring maintenance medication. Flare-ups can be initiated by several different types of situations. Chronic asthmatics tend not to take their disease very seriously. However, 1 out of every 10 asthmatics will die due to their disease. Good maintenance techniques are the key to good health.
- Do you require a maintenance inhaler for your asthma?
- Have you been treated with a steroid in the last 12 months due to your asthma getting out of control?
If the answer to these two questions are yes, please contact our research coordinator for more information.
